The trait chart

How to readan Mnode.

Every one of the 4,444 Mnodes was born with eleven traits. Each one says something about how that witness stands in the soil, what it listens for, and how far its memory travels. The chart counts those original designs. Evolved Mnodes keep them as Origin traits and add their own lineage.

OG and Evolved

The collection stays at 4,444. An Evolved Mnode is an OG whose holder rooted community-created art in it. It keeps its number, gets a new one of one image, and carries a different set of traits. Its eleven original traits stay readable as Origin traits, so its history is never lost.

Tier

How deep the root runs

Tier is the single rank that sits above all other traits. It says how far an Mnode reaches into the Chainstream, from a Common witness of the surface soil to the eight One of One anchors that stand alone in the network.

Cap shape

The listening surface

The cap is the crown that faces the forest. A Wide Parasol catches a broad, shallow field of signal, a Tall Bell listens narrow and far, and a Shattered or Crescent cap belongs to an Mnode that survived something the soil remembers.

Gills

How a signal is sorted

Underneath the cap, the gills separate noise from movement. Dense gills sift slowly and carefully, Sparse gills let more through, and Radiant gills fan the signal outward into the network at once.

Branches

How many things it can watch

Branches are the number of attention points an Mnode holds open. Two Nodes watch closely, Five Nodes spread wide, and a Bare Stem holds nothing at all, which in this forest is its own kind of stillness.

Node shape

The sigil on each point

Every point of attention carries a shape. Orb is the common reading eye of the forest, Hex and Diamond are ordered readers, Star reaches further than it should, and Ring reads in loops, returning to what it has already seen.

Aura

What the Mnode gives back

Aura is the light an Mnode releases while it works. Most give nothing visible. Soft Glow means steady reading, Pulse Rings mean something is moving, and Eclipse is the rarest light of all, a witness burning dark.

Spores

How memory travels

Spores carry what the Mnode has verified into the wider network. A Drift moves slowly through the undergrowth, a Swarm floods the paths, and a Storm carries memory further than any single root could reach.

Ground

The soil it stands in

Ground is the state of the earth around the root. Bare Soil is quiet ground, Filaments and Root Web mean the Mnode is woven into many neighbours, and Fracture is ground that once broke open toward the Chainstream.

Backdrop

Where in the Mycelium it grew

The backdrop is the region of the hidden world an Mnode belongs to. Dark Forest is the common home of the network. Blackout and Rift are the far edges, where the soil thins and the Chainstream runs close to the surface.

Cap colour

The signature of the crown

Colour is how a witness is recognised across the dark. Magenta Bloom and Violet Spore are common in the deep forest, while Gold Vein and Void Black appear only where the soil is very old.

Stem colour

The line down to the Chainstream

The stem is the path between crown and root. Mint Filament and Pale Jade are the ordinary threads of the network, and Gold Root marks a line that has carried memory for longer than most.

Traits are not decoration.
They are how a witness reads.

Rarity tells you how many share a trait. The story tells you what it does. Read both, then read the Mycelium itself.
